Welcome to our home. You are invited to visit our evolving site and experience for yourself what a sustainable urban environment might look like.

Stay overnight or attend a workshop and spend a few days. Our hope is that you'll find our home comfortable, relaxing, and inspirational. If you're already familiar with common environmental practices like recycling, composting and eating organic food, you'll feel right at home here. If not, we'd be happy to explain their importance, as well as our use of organic bedding, biodegradable detergents and energy saving appliances.

Green Lodging refers to hosting practices which support environmental health. We are demonstrating ways to reduce consumption and waste. We love sharing what we know and learning more from our guests.

We have become a Washington State non-profit, Fertile Ground Community Center, demonstration site for sustainable living. Read our mission statement for more information.

Your innkeepers, Gail and Michael Di Marzo, live onsite and share the pleasure of offering friendly, attentive hospitality to each and every guest. Their open manner creates an atmosphere that encourages guests to engage them with questions and ideas. If you need assistance during your stay, don't hesitate to ask. They value every opportunity to provide a pleasant and relaxing environment. Whether you want help choosing a restaurant or tips on creating world peace, Gail and Michael will have plenty of ideas to share.

Many other volunteers and contributors are also responsible for the progress of Fertile Ground, but they are too numerous to mention here. Our goal is to provide you with an experience which is beautiful, tastey and fun. Our mottos is: Try this at home.

We've been honored to have many wonderful people here as guests and visitors. They are too numerous to mention. When our hero, Alan Atkisson, booked a room we were beside ourselves with excitement because it was his book, Believing Cassandra that gave us the inspiration to start a Green B&B.

Pictured here is Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!. Because of all our diverse talents and enterprises she said "I call people like you - 'DoAllogists' " Thanks Amy!
